Hammers injury update ahead of Old Trafford

By Simon Leyland

It appears that we will be without Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings for our trip to face Manchester United in the FA Cup, according to our Supremo at today’s press conference.

Fabianski – three or four fine saves

Goalkeeper Fabianski was forced off injured after a collision in that game, Moyes says he may now need surgery while Coufal’s heel injury hasn’t cleared up yet and Ings is cup-tied.

The manager said:“We’ve got a few injuries, Lukasz Fabianski has got a fractured cheekbone and eyesocket. We don’t know whether it will be operated on yet.
“Vladimir Coufal has got a heel injury, I think that’s really the two injuries we have from the weekend. Danny Ings is cup tied.”

But it is not necessarily all bad news, as there have been calls for Alphonse Areola to come in for Fabianski for a while now and now he will have a chance to stake a claim for a regular starting spot with hopefully a good run of games in the side.

As for Coufal, he has not had the best of seasons and perhaps this the chance that Ben Johnson needs to take the right-back position for his own.

With Ings being unavailable, he gets to rest before the weekend game at Brighton but there is a real possibility that Gianluca Scamacca will get some much-needed minutes after his recent injury troubles whilst big Mikey is also pushing for a starting spot after coming on as a “supersub” last Saturday.
