Report: Hammers interested in Palace striker

West Ham’s increasingly desperate striker has reportedly led them to Selhurst Park and Christian Benteke.

The Sun says we are ready to make a move but it’s a move that has to be doubtful with the manager looking for youthful and energetic front me..

However, if the Sun report is to be believed there remains a chance that David Moyes may try to complete a deal before the window closes.

At 31 years old, he barely fits the Moyes model for young and energetic player whilst his goals record last season of 10 in 34 games left a lot to be desired.

At much the same age as Mikey Antonio this doesn’t look like forward thinking  if the reports turns out to be true.

And we would be very surprised were that to turn out to be the case with such a well travelled journeyman.

Benteke’s contract runs out next June having agreed a new contract last year.

  1. I beg please no no no

  2. Does our “recruitment team” know what it is doing?

  3. Sad reflection of our ambition and even sadder reflection of our recruitment team. I am not sure what is really going on but it appears to most of us that it is absolutely shocking. If the rumours are true we have also made a 50m offer for Phillips of Leeds, I just do not get it. We offer 50m for a player where we have 2 players who are better in that position and can I add there is so much better value out there than Phillips. He is lucky to be starting for England. Moyes wasted a lot of money in the summer and if he thinks signing either Benteke or Phillips is what progress is then I really hope the owners put a stop to these ridiculously lazy and expensive recruitment mistakes.

  4. Just one terrible “no news ” after another . The club is run like a circus with a bunch of clowns in charge . Such a great opportunity to grow the club and establish us for years to come and these idiots are going to waste it …… when all 11 are fit and well we have a top 6 team that picks itself . Injuries and fatigue rob us of a couple and we have no plan B > Sullivan gets smugger and richer and Moyes tags along for the ride. He is tactically inept and has no concept of what players to bring off / on to protect hard won points …. Highest number of goals conceded after 85 mins … is it surprising …. Yarmo , arthur , noble all come on and between them they couldnt defend a telephone box . . Come on You Irons … if only … dream on .

    • Bubbles this is ******** as ever. Are u unaware that Kretinsky is involved and has to approve along with Gold – there is no one in total charge. They handed over all the transfer stuff to Moyes which was all everybody wanted and you still moan on. Try to catch up with what’s going on rather than moan on about your ancient issues

  5. Phillips i wouldnt mind. Benteke ? That has got to be a joke. Shows complete lack of ambition and im starting to wonder common sense.

  6. Benteke is barely a Championship striker now and a waste of our time. If this is it from the Recruitment Team then please recruit a new Team. Embarrassing

  7. Not five years ago, not now, not ever!
