Hammers issue hands off warning

reece-oxford-west-ham-england_3320617Jose Mourinho has reportedly sent Manchester United scouts to check out Reece Oxford whilst he is on duty for England in the u-19 European Championships.

The Irons central defender has long held United’s attentions and Mourinho is known to be keen on him. He has ordered scouts to bring back reports after sending them to see the England game against the Netehrlands on Friday night should the youngster be selected to play.

According to The Mirror, United are set to make one more attempt to sign the teenager this summer but a West Ham source told ClaretandHugh this evening: “We read fresh speculation every week about Reece and we can’t stop our players being watched.

“We see it is a very positive sign that we are producing and signing players who are attracting such attention. We are getting better and bettter as a football club.

“We have said many times we are no longer a selling club. Reece is a very important player, has two years left on his deal and we have no intention of listening to bids, nor have their been any.”

  1. If he signed a new contract now then they would back off for this year,
Don’t know the problem unless he is holding out so he can name his price and terms next season,
If he is not going to sign and give us something back for years of helping him improve,
Sell him before the window closes and bring in another youngster who can grow with our side like the young Croatia who is about the same price

    • Think I read something about him not being able to sign a new contract or there’s a limit on what we can do until he’s 18 and so its all a bit of the usual nonsense.

      • He cant sign a new deal until December ( 18th birthday ) but they are busy negociating it right now. It could take months because there is no hurry. Until then they won’t listen to bids.

  2. Apparently Fletcher has already become a hammer.I didn’t know the deal had been done until I saw it on another site.
