Hammers issue response to Khan’s statement

|

West Ham have welcomed London mayor Sadiq Khan’s condemnation of the “violent episodes” at the Burnley match but “do not feel it helpful to speculate without all the facts.”

That would appear to be a sideswipe at Khan who made a series of allegations and claims ahead of an independent investigation into what went on during the 90 minutes.

In their statement on the official website, the Hammers say: “West Ham United welcome the Mayor of London’s support for our condemnation of the violent episodes at our game against Burnley.

So far the Club has banned 20 spectators at that game for life and the individuals have been reported to police.

The West Ham stewards the mayor referred to are employed by our landlords E20 and not by us.

A full independent investigation has been launched which will reveal the truth about what happened on that day. We do not feel it helpful to speculate without all the facts.

The Safety Advisory Group has reported a reduction in the number of stewards – in particular those responsible for reacting to pitch incursions –  for that game and we need to urgently understand why that occurred.

We would like to emphasise the majority of our supporters are peace loving and behave impeccably.”

20 banned for life according to official site, which is excellent news, just add the clown Khan to that list, bloke should not be allowed to be a mayor, that incompetent!

The guy is acting like an ill-informed, easily influenced teenager, akin to the kind of emotionally-charged, partisan irrationality we’ve come to expect from Trump. He needs to set aside his prejudice and desire for media favour and political gain, and do his job properly. Idiot.

What? A politician who actually seeks headline publicity???

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Try and find any improvement he has made as Mayor, I haven’t been able to find any, as others mention he is just a mouthpiece and an ill informed one at that, who loves it when the spotlight is on him, if he could deliver on all his sound bites I would respect him even if I didn’t agree with most, he is the Labour BoJo without the charisma…

Another fool who has jumped on the ‘it’s all West Ham’s fault’ band wagon without getting the facts.
How big an out cry would there be if the stadium was left empty collecting dust the majority of the year?
So Mr Khan just sit down & shut up.
