Hammers join PL clubs in weekend remembrance

West Ham and every other club will surely be doing the precisely the right thing this weekend ahead of their various kick off times.

The Premier League has decided that despite the scenario being created for political reasons rather than social the victims of the middle east crisis who lost their lives will  be remembered.

The attack on Israel which saw babies, children and adults all killed was horrendous  and the Premier League has taken what some may nonetheless feel is a brave decision.

West Ham have this afternoon issued a statement revealing that they will – along with will all other clubs – be involved in a minute’s silence ahead  their game at Aston Villa and wearing black armbands.

The issue was initially raised on Claret and Hugh by agent Barry Silkman who is himself Jewish demanding the PL did something citing the Black Lives Matter remembrance as an example why!

Some felt however, as that was social and the Gaza situation was a political situation the two didn’t bear comparison.

However, in their statement the club say at www.whufc.com: “The thoughts of everyone at West Ham United are with the innocent victims of the horrific events in Israel and the crisis in Gaza.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to their families, loved ones and communities, and stand with all our supporters around the world in hoping for peace as soon as possible.

Together as a club, we will remember all those who have lost their lives and pay our respects by joining Premier League clubs in wearing black armbands and observing a moment of silence ahead of our fixture at Aston Villa on Sunday.”
