Hammers keen on high scoring hitman

Genk striker Mbwana Samatta, is reported to have caught the eyes of Hammers scouts.

Having scored in the Champions League defeat by Liverpool, the BBC are reporting he has a £10 million release clause in his contract which runs out in 2021.

The 26 year old was top scorer in the Belgian League last season scoring 25 as Genk were crowned the champions.

Samatta already has six goals during this season in league games alone in which they’ve played 13.

The Tanzanian has been given the captain role 51 times in his career.

ClaretandHugh says: Samatta looks and sounds a great fit for the Irons as the manager looks for a striker in the winter, certainly a better bet that Olivier Giroud who at 34 could only become the shortest term addition to the squad. Samatta sounds ideal at the price ! However, with just that  £10 million release clause on his head we can expect competition from others besides Newcastle although the London effect is always an attraction to players. He proved himself a real pest to the Liverpool defence in the confrontation and it comes as no surprise that we are reported to be on his case.  He’s very nippy, cute in the air and has the natural scoring instinct which we need so badly right now. Genk are surely going to find it hard to keep a player who will be sorely tempted by a massive lift on personal terms from the Premier League.
