West Ham are now focused on bringing one of Salomon Rondon or Alexksander Mitrovic to the club this summer despite having not totally given up on Maxi Gomez or Moussa Marega.
Despite the Gunners having a limited transfer budget manager Unai Emery is keen on the Celta Vigo striker and the Hammers fear if it came to a straight fight Gomez could be persuaded into the Emirates.
However, both Rondon and Mitrovic are clear targets although it is understood that Newcastle are keen to keep the West Brom player.
The Irons hope that with the striker having played for Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga and remain optimistic that with the prospect of London being perhaps more attractive than Tyneside, a deal can be struck.
Yesterday we explained a club insider gave odds of no more than one in ten of signing any of the four at the moment but things can change quickly in the transfer market and certainly no one is throwing in the towel yet of any of the targets on the list.
A well placed Hammers source told Claret andHugh: “It would be fair to say that both players interest us.”
I do not know who your source is Hugh but Mitrovic is not a target as he is just simply awful – he was useless at Newcastle, no movement and not a natural finisher. Another Carroll in many ways. Hugh is a source telling you that he is a target as I don’t believe for one second he is, the reason is that we have a very smart football of director and a equally smart manager. Based on signings like Anderson, Diop he just simply is not in that league. I would take Rondon ahead of him, I do like him.
We don’t reveal the identity our sources James as well you know, Mitrovic is a target for West Ham and who are we to judge if Pellegrini wants him
MY apologies to all for reporting in the past that Rondon is on a free. I was wrong. There is a release clause attached. We all make ’em but apologies regardless 🙂
We’re only interested cos there cheaper than Gomez . Typical we won’t go for the player that would improve the squad we go for the cheap option . Not good enough .
It’s just as well we moved to the London Stadium so we can attract players of this calibre.
