Hammers lagging behind
Name the only team in the Premier League that has not made a signing yet?
And no, you cannot phone a friend !
It is of course our beloved West Ham
To compound that, our already paper thin squad is likely to shed Michail Antonio soon, as he is slated for a last payday in the sun in Saudi Arabia
If he goes that means we have now lost three first team players in a matter of weeks and still no replacements to be seen, whilst our Premier League rivals are busily strengthening their squads.
Also remember that the likes of Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek, Ben Johnson, Conor Coventry, Angelo Ogbonna and Lukas Fabianski only have a year remaining on their current deals at the London Stadium; although that is not an immediate cause for concern .
But even if our Supremo does make a few top dollar signings in the next week or so , the new players will not necessarily have enough time to be fully integrated into the squad.
The last thing we need is yet another slow start to the season.
So frustrating for us fans. Here we are, same as last year, no obvious cohesive plan apparent, no movement in but plenty out, and that feeling that we will be last minute Joe again, picking up the left overs and no time to integrate or get a team play. Last year I reckon the first two months we were all over the place, and it took till Christmas to start playing consistently. I feel the defensive template is a result of no work going into an attacking style early doors, so we have to defend. Moyes needs to shape up and inject some urgency.
