Hammers land first financial bonus

|

The Hammers have began their financial progress in the Europa League group stage.

The exciting 0-2 victory in Croatia saw the club pick up £630,000 as they begin the quest to head the group which if achieved would see them pick up £1.1m.

Two victories over Genk and Rapid Vienna in upcoming games would add a further £1.2 million to their pot – all very welcome in covid times but certainly not a fortune.

And it should be remembered that the manager and players will be on decent bonuses for their success in Europe which has become an automatic feature of their contracts,

The Irons will have been disappointed that Genk managed a last minute victory over Rapid Vienna and thus are ion equal points with us.

However, such was the performance over Zagreb in what is seen as a really tough place to visit, that the Hammers will feel confident of their ability to emerge from the group with maximum points.
