Hammers learn Conference League opponents

West Ham will play Viborg FF in their Europa Conference League play-off.

The Hammers were initially drawn against the Danish side and Faroe club B36 Torshavn.

Viborg won the tie over two legs, beating the Faroese side 2-1 on Tuesday to complete a 5-1 aggregate triumph.

They will now be rewarded with a tie against David Moyes’ side.

The first leg will take place at the London Stadium on Thursday August 18th and the second leg will take place in Denmark the following week.

The Irons have never played Viborg before, so this will mark the first meeting between the two clubs.

To reach this stage, they initially beat AaB after a seventh-placed finish in the Superliga, and then beat Lithuanian side Suduva in the second qualifying round.

Whichever side wins the tie will qualify for the group stages, as the Hammers again aim to make a deep run into the latter stages of European competition.
