West Ham are reported to be open to leaving the door for Jesse Lingard slightly ajar if he changes his mind before West Ham signs a replacement.
The 28-year-old in currently on Manchester United summer training camp at Penny Hill Park and posted a photo of himself on Instagram working out.
That social media post was immediately liked by Hammers Declan Rice, Issa Diop, Pablo Fornals, Said Benrhama, Manual Lanziniu and Mipo Odubeko.
The attacking midfielder has indicated he is keen to fight for a place in Manchester but that looks set to be difficult, though, with the £73million arrival of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. It pushes Lingard further down the pecking order with Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood already ahead of him. Manchester United are yet to offer him a new contract with just 12 months remaining of his current deal.
Lingard is also said to be a transfer target for LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid, who have ‘made their interest known’ to his agent.
Are we that skint, we can’t afford to pay 15 million for a player, but have to loan him. How were we planning on paying for Lingard?
Move on Moyes, we do not want to be Jesse’s fall back position. Would rather we go straight for Periera , as we should convince him we want him and not with the proviso that we want you only if Lingard doesn’t want to come! That is not a good sales technique and I think we would get a better long term player as a result.
All of the important people who need to know about Jesse’s intentions already know. When the time is right and appropriate, we will also be made aware. Basically, done and dusted already. Be patient and all will be revealed.
