Hammers line up January keeper targets

David Martin looks nailed on to step into the first team for the game against Spurs after the international break.

The son of Hammers central defender legend Alvin is now freely tipped among those within the club as an inevitable choice following the calamitous form of Roberto.

The punch into his own net at Burnley on Saturday was the last straw for several of those within the squad and the club – Martin’s timealmost certainly looks is at hand.

And according to The Athletic, West Ham are working behind the scenes to bring in a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window.

Despite Lukasz Fabianski likely to be ready to return in January the club know they cannot risk Roberto should the No 1 suffer further problems.

Should Martin get the call he has a big chance to prove himself and although  a move in the market is likely anyway there will be worries over trusting the manager and Mario Husillos’ judgement.

Various targets are believed to be being lined up but given the summer disasters much thought will be given to the next one in!

  1. Maybe Joe Hart 😂😂😂

  2. Trott? I dont understand why are dinoaur of a manager acted like he was gonna bring through youth when hed rather have a keeper who cant catch a ball

  3. Going back to the earlier item re Roberto being the preferred option for MP & MH, are the board going to trust them to identify further targets?

  4. It’s the toughest job on the park , so , good luck Martin . If you get your chance grab it with both hands , so to speak . Hope you’re a catcher and not a puncher . Too many of them in today’s game for some daft reason .

  5. Blimey not sure about Martin neither just by chance last season i changed TV channel and Millwall vs Brighton was on in the FA Cup and correct me if I’m wrong Millwall was cruising 2-0 any ways last few minutes of the game Brighton lofted in a over hit free kick into the box and Martin went to catch it and instead touched into his own net and I believe it was going out of play as well!! So yeah we are screwed!!

    • Nathan Trott is well thought of by AFC Wimbledon and their fans. Is he ready for the massive jump to Premiership football and the crisis the club is at right now early mistakes could wreck the youngster confidence

    • Wow . Good memory , Rickyb . Blimey . Well all keepers screw up from time to time .
Can’t forget Germany’s goal in off of Green’s thumb . And he was a very good keeper . It ended his career basically under Capello . So I think Martin can be forgiven for a few mistakes .

  6. Ricky well remembered you have jogged mine and I am sure many others memories .

  7. Pellegrini will be gone by January, anyway, probably get s new deal in China !

  8. So now all can see Roberto is a flop ??? Something I spotted in pre-season already. Yes, please sell him asap …. together with those who brought him to this fine club. And those responsible for … Ajeti, Jack W, Balbuena, Sanchez and Fornals. And add Winston Reid (Andy C2) too. He is hardly back from injury and already on his way to the NZ squad, to suffer another injury … and draw a hefty salary from West Ham, whilst not playing. Then please grant some und23’s the promotion they so richly deserve.

  9. Arlauskis(from Cluj, which are first in the league in Romania). His contract ends in 2020. Cheap, tall, and concedes one goal per game when he plays. A good long term #2 keeper.
