Hammers linked to second Liverpool crock

|

Nathaniel Clyne’s Liverpool career is coming to an abrupt end with the defender currently training alone ahead of his imminent exit.

The 29-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of June and will not be renewed.

Long-term injuries have plagued the former Southampton star over recent years, and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s emergence has seen Clyne fall way down the pecking order.

And today website Read Liverpool claims  ‘West Ham have been in contact with the representatives of Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne citing a source. They state understand that West Ham have made an approach for the right-back but haven’t made him an official contract offer at this time.

The 29-year old who has plagued with injuries and earns £70,000 per week at Liverpool hardly matches the type of young and hungry player David Moyes looking for and t appears this report has more to do with the fact that right-backs Paolo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia are leaving the club so an easy connection to link a right-back free agent.

West Ham has also linked to another Liverpool crock in the guise of 32-year-old Adam Lallana on £110,000 per week at Liverpool with the Daily Mirror claiming the Hammers are one of five clubs chasing the free agent’s signature at the end of July.

In reality, West Ham insiders have been consistent that no formal bids or talks will be held until the club knows what division they are in next season. With a lack of transfer funds and a desire to trim the wage bill together with Moyes mission to recruit young hungry players in lower and overseas divisions, Lallana and Clyne would make unlikely signings for next season at first glance.
