The summer window does not open until July 1st and yet transfer silly season already appears to be in full swing. West Ham has been linked with a host of players inside the past fortnight.
Belgian publication Het Nieuwsblad has suggested that the Hammers could be a potential summer destination for Napoli forward Dries Mertens. In the report which delves into what the future could have in store for the 29-year-old the newspaper claims that Mertens would have few potential suitors which include the Hammers.
His current contract expires in the summer of 2018. “I feel good in Naples. I’m getting respected, just like the Red Devils. The negotiations have been protracted. A contract extension? Maybe I get a few extra zeros on my contract, ” Mertens told the Belgium press.
Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle, Manchester United and Manchester City have been linked with the Belgium striker who has scored 19 goals in Serie A this season.
