Hammers linked with Cardiff centre back

|

Bruno_Ecuele_Manga_20140916According to reports in Sports Witness  Cardiff, Bruno Ecuele Manga is looking for a step up to the Premier League, with the Hammers one of three clubs interested.

Speaking to Sport Witness, the player’s agent, Yvan Le Mée, said: “Yes, Bruno Ecuele Manga should be transferred this summer. His Cardiff contract ends on the 30th of June 2017, and Swansea, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Lazio are all very interested.”

Bruno Ecuele Manga was bought for in excess of £5m two years ago by Cardiff, who will look to recoup some of that money. He began his career in Gabon with FC 105 Libreville before joining Bordeaux and then going onto play for Rodez, Angers and Lorient.

The defender has been capped 41 times by his country and has made 23 appearances for the Bluebirds so far this season. With the future of Doneil Henry in doubt Manga could be bought to provide competition to Ogbonna, Tomkins, Collins and Reid.

Surprised at all this talk about new centre backs. Apart from the 4 main ones you mention, there’ll hopefully be Oxford and Burke pushing for places. Seems to me any interest in more centre backs can only indicate we aren’t happy with the quality on board already. Perhaps a case can be made we have too many in the goals against column this season and I can remember the odd defensive howler. I’m just not sure the names currently being mentioned are a step up?

Not surprised with our attacking attitude to the game e need good defenders and a part from Ogbonna the other 3 have had a patchy season with nine of them looking comfortable on the ball to play it out,
It’s progress to bring in better players,Burke,Oxford still have time to prove how good they are,
We need quality in every position if we are going to compete and that includes on the bench
