Goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi is poised for success after moving from West Ham United to Motherwell on a season-long loan. The Hungarian youth international has secured his future with West Ham, extending his contract until summer 2027, with an option for an additional year. The talented keeper left for Scotland with a ringing endorsement in his ears from Hammers goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.
The Spanish coach said; “He’s a big talent, who has all the attributes you look for in a goalkeeper. He’s been at West Ham for a long time, and I think a lot of us at the Club believe he’s got everything he needs to go to the very top.”
A clearly excited Hegyi said, “Signing a new contract with West Ham is a dream come true. London feels like home now, and I’m excited about my continuous growth here. The unwavering support from the staff has been incredible, especially during my loan spells. Xavi Valero’s coaching, even remotely, has been instrumental in my development. My time in Holland was particularly beneficial, and I’m eager to build on that progress at Motherwell. Playing in a major league with significant stadiums is thrilling, and I’m ready to give my all.”
Valero, West Ham’s first-team goalkeeper coach, sees immense potential in Hegyi. He commented, “Krisztian’s new deal is fantastic news. He embodies all the qualities of a top goalkeeper. His experiences last season, especially in Holland, were vital for his growth. The move to Motherwell is an excellent opportunity for him. The competitive nature of the league will undoubtedly enhance his skills, and we expect him to return even stronger.”
Hegyi’s move to Motherwell promises valuable playing time and further development, positioning him for a promising career ahead. Hopefully there is scope for his return in a years time given the ages of both Lucas Fabianski and Wes Forderingham.
I personally think this guy is the real deal, and all being well our future number one. He’s one of the best youth goalkeepers I’ve seen in recent years.
We’ve let good kids go but none were as good as this guy.
I sincerely hope he has a great season at Motherwell.
Well that’s positive news, with him having a successful loan spell last season and fingers crossed he will this season. ⚒️ COYI
