Hammers look for first win over Brighton

As bogey teams go Brighton are as bad as it gets in West Ham terms.

With points badly needed, the Seagulls are among the most ominous teams to be arriving at the London Stadium given we have not have won any of our 10 Premier League games against Brighton (D6 L4).

It’s the most we have  faced an opponent without winning, and the most Brighton have faced one without defeat.

Pn top of that Brighton have never failed to score in those meeting – however, they’ve only kept two clean sheets in those 10 games, and in none of the past seven.

The Seagulls are unbeaten in their previous seven league games. Only once have they had a longer unbeaten run in the top flight, going eight without defeat in October and November 1981.

David Moyes – discussing the match  may not necessarily concerned about the stats – but is of course keenly aware of them.

Talking to www.whufc.com he said: ” I’ve got loads of teams like Brighton who I’ve found hard to beat, so it’s not just Brighton, there are other teams as well like that.

The challenge is good. They’ve got a good team, they’ve got a manager who’s doing very well, they’ve got a structure which they developed, so they’ve got a lot of good things going for them, Brighton.

We finished above them last year in the league, so we have to go and try and show that we are good enough and we aim to try and do that again. We’ve had tough games against them, so I’ve got no doubt this will be another tough game.

Moyes and Potter

It’s really important we get our first points on the board, really important.

We don’t want to get in a position where we’re too far behind where we don’t want to challenge.

Our aim is to keep going. We want to be challenging the boys at the top and we know that we’ve got to get off the mark and get started, so let’s hope we can do it on Sunday.
