Hammers look for Jenks breakthrough

carl-jenkinson-562633West Ham remain hopeful that they will complete a deal for Carl Jenkinson over the next couple of weeks.

Although Arsenal are continuing to play hardball over loan terms the Hammers believe a fee of around £1.5 million will ultimately be sorted out.

We were told this evening: “We are hopeful of doing the deal. It is still very much on the cards and we believe it is a straightforward situation between ourselves and Sunderland.

“However, we can see no reason why he should want to move to north east where he has no friends given that he knows so many people at Upton Park and is happily settled in London.”

The club is continuing to talk with his advisers but the key is to lower Arsenal’s loan fee as that, plus wages of around £40k a week, would push the deal to close to £4 million for ONE season.

Jenks is on around £32k a week at the Emirates but would be looking to better that at the Boleyn as a regular member of the first team.

  1. Don’t get me wrong if he comes good cos I thought he had a good season but I’d rather we weren’t paying so much for a loan especially from them. If we can search Europe for a CB we can do the same for a RB might cost more than £4M for the season but at least he’d be ours

  2. Agreed Quick. I hate having to dance to Wenger’s tune.

    • I was going to say do you mean “Sit down you p…..”‘but I’m not going to lol

  3. I leave the floor to John… lol 😉

  4. Johnham,Jenks No1 fan 😀

  5. D’oh!!!! Of course that John,I blame DG he still hasn’t said I can go back to bed yet lol

  6. Well……..I hope we sign Carl on a permanent deal. His game confidence improved no end during last season. Arsene Wenger obviously doesn’t want to play him, so I say go and get him, Mr Sullivan!

**********Breaking news….Nigel Pearson has been sacked by Leicester City. So a job for Sam Allardyce has come earlier than he hoped!**********

  7. Wrigleys and Pukka pie lorries spotted outside the King stadium, poor old Leicester lol

  8. £4 million for 1 season ?
Montoya of Barc is only £8 million and a better player, the young lad from Leeds could be bought for about the same and there are a lot of others out there for half that,
Don’t get me wrong I like Jenkinson but it’s to much money to borrow someone
