Leicester in charge as Hammers lose final PL game

West Ham finish off there season with a loss at doomed Leicester

West Ham were put to the sword by a Leicester City team clearly pumped up for most vital game of their season.

They were in charge and bossed us for most of the first half.

On the 34th minute one of our potential signings Barnes is the man who created and scored their opener. He collected the ball s wide left, played a one-two with Iheanacho, raced away from Downes and passed low into the net.

It was a very so-so first half  with us having five shots, with only Antonio’s on target, compared to Leicester’s eight with two on target, including Barnes’ goal.

Possession-wise, it was fairly even, but Leicester had 75 passes in the attacking third to West ham`s 50.

On the hour mark, Tielemans swung in a free-kick and Faes rose to head home. But ten minutes later, Danny Ings missed a sitter from 10 yards after a cross from Bowen. Instead his shot flew over the bar.

But on 79 mins, Pablo Fornals, with five Leicester players for company, collected from Ings, who intercepts a loose pass inside the centre circle, runs at Faes and slid a perfect low right-foot shot in off the base of the left-hand post.

We had the lion’s share of possession, but turning chances into goals has been our issue in the Premier League for much of the season.

Fair play to Leicester, on hearing that Everton scored, galvanised themselves for a final effort but it came to naught. As the whistle blew they trudged off knowing that they were relegated.

Not the best of games, but we had no injuries. So, we finish the season in 14th place with 40 points.

Bring on Prague !
