Hammers managerial update

West Ham have given a managerial update disclosure making it clear there is very unlikely to be any  decision made on David Moyes‘ future until well beyond Christmas. There is only the remotest of chances the Hammers will struggle in the lower reaches of the Premier League this season whilst reaching the last 16 of the Europa League. On top of that the club are in the Carabao Cup with the FA Cup still to come. Indeed it looks more likely as things stand that the manager will be in a position to make his own mind up on whether he stays or goes.

Much discussion has centred on his relationship with technical director Tim Steidten but that looked under no strain whatsoever ahead of the game in Serbia this week. The pair were seen chatting freely and laughing together suggesting an accord is being reached.

Obviously there is much that can happen before the end of the campaign but it is clear that as things stand, the board – of which Tim Steidten is almost seen as a part are justifiable happy with things whilst wanting to see a more attractive brand of football being played.

And source told Claret and Hugh: “The board are continuing to back the manager as things are looking more than decent at the moment. Indeed they did when he was under a lot of pressure. Unless there is a dramatic development in the opposite direction he looks more than safe until the end of the season.  It will be as much his decision as the board’s whether he stays should things continue to go well anyway.”
