Hammers miss out on Barca striker

West Ham have missed out on the potential signing of Luuk De Jong from Barcelona.

We were told that the striker was on a list of potential targets for boss David Moyes in January as he bids to provide support to Mikey Antonio.

De Jong was seen as a viable signing in January because he has been used primarily as an impact sub at the Camp Nou.

This season, indeed, he has made just two starts for the club in the league but he now appears to be on his way to fellow Spanish side Cadiz.

Marca reports that the two clubs have reached an agreement and it is now down to the player to approve the switch.

The Irons will instead have to look elsewhere as they bid to strengthen up front in the January window; Moyes has made signing a centre-forward a priority as the Irons look to keep their top-four push going.

  1. Great news ! However, I doubt that we ever had any interest in him anyway
