Last gasp Irons move may yet get left back target

West Ham are set to miss out on long-term hope of attracting Omar Richards from Reading – short of a last gasp move – as the player closes in on a Bayern Munich move.

The club were hopeful of signing him in the summer transfer window but were not able to do a deal with the Championship club.

Richards has developed superbly during his time at Reading and The Guardian reports that he is set to move to the Bundesliga champions on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old has rejected a new deal at the club and would have been something of a classic David Moyes signing, as a young talent who could develop and grow under his tutelage.

Richards has made a total of 83 appearances for the club since his debut in 2017/18 and has also won one cap for the England U21 side.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact he can make in Germany but this is an astonishing move for the young Championship full-back.
