Kudus: Hammers must up their game

Mohammed Kudus says the Hammers must up their game if they intend to remain unbeaten. Kudus was again a class apart from the rest as the team tottered to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in a game they really should have on comfortably.

This time around neither he or Tomas Soucek could rescue the other two points as the Hammers tried and failed to create a wining climax to a game that really was there for the taking.

Instead the game finished timidly and afterwards the Ghana international made it crystal clear the squad expects a lot more from themselves – a point he had made early in the game with a fine opener. But he was quick to insist that one is never enough and the boys really need to go on and build on that – something they significantly failed to do today

He said: “When you get one goal, [it is important] you don’t settle for that. You could see we were pushing for a second goal but you could also see they were a very good side and so we just have to take the point and focus on the next game.” A very good side…that has to be debatable!

He added: “In games like this, we expect more for ourselves. If we don’t get three points, at least we have to get a point. When there are not many chances, we need to be compact and defend better to win the game with just one goal.”

He was pleased to see his fifth goal of the season adding: “It is always good to score early on in the game. It gives the team momentum and energy. It was a good time to score and a beautiful assist from Vlad also.”

He’s basically a happy Hammer however saying: “Everyone around the club has helped me settle in. Credit to all the team, teammates, player care, and the staff. I believe a lot in myself and I am putting in the effort every day to be the best. It is still the beginning for me, and I feel there is a lot more I can offer so I will keep working day in and day out to be the best I can be.”
