Tuchel touted as Hammers new manager
West Ham have been heavily linked to Thomas Tuchel, who has just been informed that his contract will not be renewed by Bayern Munich.
Perhaps this could be seen as good news by those looking at potential managers for West Ham, but caution is required. Tuchel is on the cusp of losing Bayern’s first title in 11 years, and that is despite signing Harry Kane, who has scored a whopping 25 goals so far.
Rather embarrassingly, Tuchel lost the German Supercup to RB Leipzig in August, and many credit last season’s Bundesliga triumph to Dortmund’s capitulation rather than Munich’s excellence.
However, it’s the reports of him falling out with numerous members of Bayern’s staff and players which should be most concerning. It mirrors the accusations which were levelled against him at Chelsea and PSG. He was reported to have had a major falling out with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, which subsequently hastened his departure.
I suspect that given his ‘previous’, Tuchel and Sullivan would not be a good match. The German has managed some huge football clubs but has never been the best manager at any of them, and his relative success at Dortmund was achieved off the back of Jurgen Klopp’s work without anywhere near the silverware.
In fact, there is an argument to be made that Tuchel makes teams worse. He may be a high-profile manager, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a good one.
TUCHEL IS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE . HE HAS NOT MADE THE MOST OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES AT CHELSKI OR BAYERN. WE SHOULD LOOK NO FURTHER THAN POTTER. HE WAS EXCELLENT AT BRIGHTON AND NEVER STOOD A CHANCE AT CHELSEA . GET HIM NOW BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES . MIND YOU VIRTUALLY ANYONE WOULD BE A BID IMPROVEMENT ON DITHERING DAVE AND MOYESBALL COYI
Tuchel is not the man I would want. Failed at Bayern, albeit Alonso is doing wonders, but Bayern have already made up their mind to be rid of him, so that rings alarm bells.
Also, I always thought Chelsea were bad under him, the football played was disorganized, players not combining well with no cohesion – it was frenetic like a disturbed nest of wasps.
So many of their players (Rudiger, Christensen…) immediately left at the end of the season. Conjecture, but I think he is a divisive manager & I would prefer a manager in the style of Pochettino who brings players on (Conor Gallagher), builds up a team with character who play for each other.
