Hammers are no further forward with the transfer of Borges
Here we are a day away from the end of another week and from all we hear the Hammers are no closer at all to signing new players.
Manchester City’s Carlos Borges was due to arrive this week but we are still waiting having learned that Conor Gallagher intends remaining at Chelsea.
That leaves us looking at the well known targets – James Ward- Prowse and Scott McTominay with the Saints skipper fancying a move to the London Stadium and the Manchester United apparently want to stay at Old Trafford.
Once again – as we are doing on a daily basis given the urgency of the situation – we are checking with our top source on the latest situation.
And it was worrying to learn today that things have moved no further over the last 24 hours although talks are continuing with various club’s including Southampton.
Our source declared: “This is proving to be a very tough market but we remain hopeful and are talking to a number of clubs.”
Was only a matter of time before the usual ‘difficult market’ came out. If they come out with the same boring names of course you’re not going to get value for money. Just an embarrassment and the players must be scratching their heads wondering why we’ve left things so late yet again. The common denominator is Moyes, maybe it’s time to make a big change and get someone in who’s on board with what we are trying to do. Let’s hope the reports coming out of Italy about scamacca going to roma on loan aren’t true.. .
Tough market? If you pay the asking price it puts you in the game. We continuously try to get players for nothing, whoever does eventually comes in doesn’t get a preseason with us so they are benched for 2 months with the odd 5 minutes here and there destroying their confidence, scamacca, cornet etc then before you know it we are 15 games into the season and the players have not scored because of lack of playing time so the confidence is shot. Typical Moyes. Grateful we won the cup last season but still should have been moved on, it’s so obvious that the plan was to get rid of him but he threw a spanner in the works by winning the cup. Sullivan doesn’t want to let him loose on the money and I don’t blame him but should get rid and get someone in who can work with this new guy who sounds like he knows what he’s doing.
Same old story, make a low offer, get rejected and as window closes say we tries to make signings.Absolute shambles, laughing stock of the Premier League.
We are shaping up to sign nobody or has-beens, definitely not younger, stronger, talented players. The low ball bids for predictable ‘targets’ are typical of us, and we may end up at best with players past their best and no financial assets.
Of course it’s a tough market. We know that. But it hasn’t stopped every other PL club, many of which have tiny budgets compared to West Ham’s, signing players.
It is utterly pathetic. And Sullivan thinks he can hoodwink fans by saying “oh we tried so hard”, and then it emerges that the offers made were laughable. What a bunch of amateurs.
