The Irons now look certain to sign Brazilian defender Luizao  in January.

A key sopurce at the London Stadium has already made it clear to ClaretandHugh that the club are working on the deal and that hopes are high for a January signing.

Despite strengthening their defence over the summer by securing Nayef Aguerd, Thilo Kehrer and Emerson Palmieri, it now appears the manager is ready to move again with Craig Dawson only 50/50 to remain and Angelo Ogbonna is out of contract in the summer.

Nayef Aguerd’s injury has shown the lack of depth in terms of a left-footed central defender and Luizao is seen as the answer,

The 20-year-old is out of contract on January 31st 2023 and it looks like Sao Paulo are set to lose the centre back.

Goal Brasil claim that Luizao is now ‘practically certain’ to leave Sao Paulo in January. It’s suggested that West Ham did consider trying to pay cash to sign Luizao before his contract expired.
