Hammers on hunt to fill problem position

Sam Byram ...growing up

Sam Byram …growing up

West Ham are already on the hunt for a Premier League proven right back ahead of the summer.

Byram  is not seen as the solution and that he remained on the bench yesterday against Watford after the early mistake by Cheik Kouyate that led to Watford’s penalty showed that clearly.

Byram is now seen very much in terms of a back up defender and the club is currently scouring Europe for the defender who can fill their problem position.

The Hammers have been without a permanent right back  since the days of Guy Demel and Byram – despite suffering injuries – has not fulfilled the potential the club saw in him when he was scouted at Leeds and eventually brought to the club at a £3.8 million fee.

ClaretandHugh was told this evening (Sun): We are already looking at various targets – a quality right back is very much a priority along with a striker this summer.

“Sam will get his chances  but we need a proven Premier League player or one from abroad who can operate immediately at that level.”

if he isn’t good enough he has to face up to it. no point blowing smoke up his backside

Considering some of the ordinary performances Cresswell has put in post-injury I am even more surprised Bryam gets overlooked on the other side. When this kid has played for us it has mainly been when we have been up against it and he has been chucked in the deep end. I recall him doing very well against the likes of Hazard and Sterling when whoever was playing their from the start got torn apart. He was excellent when he came on against Palace at half time and really changed the game for us in an important fixture.

This can’t be good for his confidence and I completely refuse to accept that he isn’t a better option than Kouyate or Antonio. Give him a run of games and then make a decision as to whether you want to bring a RB in this summer. As I have said before you need two players for every position so we might still need one anyway.

Essex how do we know if he’s good enough or not if we don’t give him an extended run when he’s fit? He’s never had the opportunity. Don’t know how people can write him off without having a reasonable look. Feghouli was a bag of ****e to most people until he got a few games. Now most think he’s doing great. Not trying to be argumentative but think everyone deserves a fair crack of the whip before we write em off. COYI X

I have always thought Byram could grow into a good player, lets wait and see.I could actually see him moving back to Leeds if they come up.Pure speculation of course on my part lol

I have very much forgotten about Payet in the main but i did have a chuckle when i saw Marseille lost 5-1 at home to PSG tonight lol

Childish to laugh at Dimi’s misfortune Stanlley 😂😂😂.

Mind I had to laugh when I saw the Marseille scorer Rod Fanni. I mean come on did he just change his name to take the p*ss out of Dimi?

Seriously tho did you see PSGs 3 subs? Draxler, Di Maria and Ben Arfer. Lmao now that’s a strong bench.

Actually it made me smile as well… Lost against Metz, lost badly against Monaco, lost body against PSG. He’s not making a difference it seems.

That said, I think I mentioned Meunier several times as an option for right back 18 month ago. He was still unknown at the time. Probably unaffordable now, his value has gone up like crazy. Too bad.

  • John says:

Sorry I went all “OT” there. That was disgusting of me. I’m sure Slaven watches his players every day and of course I don’t but I would like to see the novel idea of a full back being played at full back before the season is over if only to see if Byram is the real deal. Perhaps his “uncle” will post again to share his insight 😂😂

Trippier has to be the best option
