Hammers on potential ticket debacle

West Ham are confident that they won’t be subject to a ticket debacle like Barcelona when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals, per The London Evening Standard.

As the report notes, over 30,000 Frankfurt fans made their way into the Camp Nou for the clash with Barcelona in the second leg of their quarter-final, in which the Bundesliga side won 3-2, to seal a 4-3 aggregate win.

It has sparked an internal inquest at the Spanish club, with manager Xavi claiming that his side felt “robbed”.

However, the newspaper now reports that the Irons are confident their stringent security measures will ensure that the first leg, at the London Stadium next Thursday, is not subject to similar scenes.

In addition to security measures, West Ham are expecting the majority of tickets to be sold to season ticket holders, meaning there will be no general sale, ensuring Frankfurt fans won’t be able to overtake the home end.

Frankfurt and Hammers fans clashed before the clash with Sevilla, with the German side having played Real Betis 24 hours prior.
