Hammers on the Hunt

West Ham United are in the midst of a summer transfer frenzy under new boss Julen Lopetegui. Technical Director Tim Steidten has been a busy bee, scouting and negotiating to try and bring in a whopping eight new players to revamp the Hammers’ squad.

West Ham haven’t wasted time, already securing the signings of winger Luis Guilherme, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, and centre-back Max Kilman for a combined total of around £60 million.

There’s more work to be done, though. West Ham are actively pursuing players in five key positions:

Striker: Talks with Aston Villa for Colombian youngster Jhon Duran are on hold due to Villa’s hefty £35 million valuation. The Hammers are exploring alternative options like Armando Broja, Youssef En-Nesyri, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Versatile Full-back: With Southampton signing Kyle Walker-Peters’ competitor/replacement at the Saints, Walker-Peters himself becomes a strong target for West Ham. This move also puts an end to their interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Central Midfielder: The situation surrounding Flynn Downes is shrouded in mystery. Lopetegui might be keeping him, or it could be a strategic move in negotiations. Regardless, West Ham’s targets in midfield will depend on Downes’ future.

Another Centre-back: RB Salzburg’s Oumar Solet is emerging as the frontrunner due to his attractive price tag of £8 million as he enters the final year of his contract. Jean-Clair Todibo and Jake O’Brien are still on the table as options.

Wide Attacker (Left-wing): Matias Soule is back in contention to fill the left-wing void.

With the major international tournaments like the Euros and Copa America now concluded, Steidten can devote his full attention to securing these transfer targets.

West Ham fans might even get a glimpse of the new signings in action today as the Hammers are set to play their first pre-season game under Lopetegui against Ferencvaros in Austria later this afternoon

The Hammers also have the curious case of Scottish midfielder Andy Irving. Signed by Moyes as part of a separate deal, Irving’s ability to compete at the Premier League level remains a question mark.

The Irons are undergoing a significant transformation under Lopetegui. The ambitious transfer plans, with negotiations ongoing across five key positions, suggest exciting times ahead for the Hammers. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining the success of this summer transfer window rebuild.

IF any of this is true (no quotes or sources), then I think it’s a big mistake targeting players like DCL and or Broja.
And also NOT going all out to get Wan Bissaka.
I doubt the story is accurate anyway

Dean is spot on! Broja & DCL should be avoided at all costs. Tim has had ages to assess with his data led approach.

Surely these two are just baseless rumours?

Tammy Abraham is another to avoid after his ACL injury.

Dean says it all ! Very worrying in general; & almost unbelievable – even for West Ham – that we are, apparently, interested in Broja & Calvert-Lewin !

  • Jimmy says:

    Totally agree!!

  • Dean hodges says:

If they buy either of Broja or Calvert lewin then we have learned nothing, dreadful injury record, dreadful goal return in last 2 seasons and let’s be honest here, 2 very ordinary players. Either of those 2 will see us fleeced all over again.

Unless Wan-Bissaka (r/bk) and KWP (l/bk) are both signed there is no cover for Emerson.
Cresswell maybe on the bench but he can’t be considered as 90 minute man.
Question of signing left back seems to have died.
Most recent has been Archie Brown (multiple positions) and Leif Davis (l/bk & c/bk).
There were others but they’ve been allocated now.
    Any ideas?

Unless they sign Wan-Bissaka (r/bk) and KWP (l/bk).
At present there is only Emerson.
Cresswell maybe on the bench but he’s no longer a 90 minute man.
Been linked with numerous l/BK’s but not recently does that mean no longer intended bringing a l/bk in?
Archie Brown was recently mentioned as he can cover multiple other positions same as Leif Davis.

  • Bernard Palmer says:

I can knock one of them off your list Downes as he’s gone to Southampton
