Hammers outcast may see change of heart

Manuel Pellegrini may be ready to give Reece Oxford a full pre-season as the defender’s uncertain future continues to cause speculation.

The player has seen a move to FC Augsburg collapse after he and his agents insisted on a relegation clause being inserted into any permanent contract offer.

He has been in a Hammers outcast since the manager’s arrival after both sides agreed a move to a new club may be his best way forward.

But yesterday he was back at Rush Green for pre-season with a first photo showing him on an exercise bike after greeting skipper Mark Noble.

There remains speculation that he could interest Slaven Bilic at West Brom but were that the case one would have imagined he would have been included in the first offer for Salaomn Rondon which involved £10 million plus Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram.

The Hammers are ready to let him leave should that be the managers decision but Pellegrini is always keen to give all players a chance of pre-season although a change of heart looks a real long shot

  1. I’d give the lad a chance, he still has potential, he can cover CB, RB and CDM,
A pre season and an attitude adjustment might be what this guy needs.

    • massive potential still very young. Get back to that level of performance he showed beyond his years at arsenal and him and rice could be great together. worth a go would save money too.

      • In other words.. take your head out your back side & wake up. You are in the last chance saloon here, screw up & your career is only going to suffer. Show people you can still be the player you were a couple of years ago.

  2. He has to be a better option going forward than Obiang

  3. What do we have to lose.
Let him get on with pre-season.
The next 10 days will give us an idea.
If he performs then he could solve several problems for him and the club.
    A great opportunity

  4. Snodgrass got fit, got focused and became a crowd favourite. If Oxford is indeed good enough, I’ll be happy to see him make an impact. The bad attitude is always talked about but I don’t know how true that is. We’ll see.

  5. Will his heart be in claret and blue ? I don’t think so as his disire is Germany ..shame as great potential but we have had lots like that…Martinez..for example hasn’t forfilled the hype he came with
