Hammers plan tribute for Isla

|

West Ham will pay tribute to Isla Caton when they take on Watford on Tuesday night.

The London Evening Standard reports that players and officials are set to wear pink armbands during the game, while there will also be a minute’s applause before kick off.

Isla died in January at the age of seven following a brave battle with neuroblastoma, a fight that touched the hearts of thousands of Hammers fans across the globe.

She had fought the rare child cancer for five years, her smile somehow never seeming to waver.

Hammers fans, of course, rallied behind one of our own, raising thousands of pounds to pay for treatment in Spain.

Isla’s mum, Nikki, has also penned a heartfelt personal message to Hammers supporters that will appear in the matchday programme, and boss David Moyes, and manager Mark Noble, will also pay tribute to the brave little Iron.

Isla was a mascot back in 2018, being carried onto the pitch by Noble, and two remained in close contact. He and Robert Snodgrass visited Isla in hospital in December of that year.
