Hammers playing it so cool on striker

|

scott-hogan1Brentford still want around £13 million for Scott Hogan and are playing a game of brinkmanship as West Ham continue to take a laid-back view of a possible deal.

There is still no agreement on a fee or personal terms for the 24 year old as the transfer window goes into its final few days.

ClaretandHugh has been told that Brentford are pushing for a minimum of £13 million but with the manager still uncertain on the player they will need to come down to make it happen buy deadline day .

Brentford are trying to screw the last penny out of the fee in an inflated market but that fails to recognise Bilic’s lukewarm approach to the deal.

Although the switch could still happen it was explained to us that the situation surrounding Robert Snodgrass’ possible switch to the London Stadium is “probably ahead of a Hogan deal.”

The Hammers board are trying to come to an agreement on the Bees front man realising that they will have more options in the summer when Diafra Sakho will also have returned from injury.

Bilic has made it clear that he believes he has precisely the squad he needs and unless the Bees come down significantly could well decide to stick with what he has.

Does Sakho look up to Payet? Do you have some insider info? Lol

Although we all see Sahko as one of our best stikers ( and a hero for some ), I suspect we have not seen the end of his tantrums.
If and when he has fully recovered and gets back to playing again, he could well be on his way soon enough. His frame of mind will not be helped by the Payet situation, where a player he looks up to is being demonised ( rightly ) by everyone at West Ham.
He could even be joined by Kouyate ( time will tell ).
For this reason Irather hope they get the deal for Hogen done, before the deadline.

I think it’s daft to expect the club to “just pay them what they want” why would they do that? If Sullivan started at £13M it would be £20M now. I’m in the camp that Hogan is worth a £8M plus add ins punt but I’m not so sure he’s a £13/15M player. That’s not to say he won’t become one.

I reckon they’re working hard on a Defoe deal I really do. I hope so.

So according to the Hull manager Silva it seems from his words Snodgrass agreed to join us days if not a week ago no?
“He has not trained since they did a deal with West Ham.
“It is possible it will be done in the next hours.
“For 10 days he has not been available to work with us and has told us he wants to leave.”

I wish that we would just meet Brentford’s deal, and then get the business finished.
We should try and go for Snodgrass and Hogan for the remainder of this season.
Carroll and Sakho, while both capable of playing really well, are both long-term injury concerns.
Makes good sense to have both “Snoddyand Hoges” available!!

So no chance that WH need the Payet money to afford a Championship striker then? Just Bilic’s indecision and not our lack of irony that we are doing to Brentford what OM are doing to us? Welocme to the “next level”….

I think most of us would agree he is not the £40m striker we were all promised but I wouldn’t say we are doing what OM did with Hogan, we could certainly be accused of having tried it with Snodgrass but £9m plus add-ons if the report is correct is very good money for a relatively unproven championship striker even in today’s market. I hope we get him just to see what he can do, sign him on a longish contract and loan him out if he is unlikely to make the grade that seems to be what most of the big clubs are doing these days you only have to look at our own loan bill to see that.

I think if this deal goes through it will be deadline day.I reckon he will do well for us if he comes to us,its either that or grab Carlton before he joins Nolan at Notts County.I dont get Fletcher, something & nothing in my eyes,i aint seeing what so many others are seeing who rate him 😉
Jesus im watching the Hull v Manure game, that manc ‘woke up this morning ‘ song is getting right on my t1ts 😂

Brentford are slowly slipping down the league, they have at best an outside chance of the play offs, they must think we are really keen in which case why not go down to the last day see if they can squeeze some extra out of the deal ? I personally am of a mind to say if we can’t get Defoe we should continue to take punts on the market, Carroll is fit at the moment but if he gets injured we are up the creek without a paddle, Callieri is not a lone striker, neither are Antonio, Ayew, Martinez (if recalled) and Slav seems to not think Fletcher is ready, from what we can see Hogan is like a more physical if less accomplished Jermain Defoe that can certainly play as a lone striker, if he gets the chance to train with top quality players his level might rise, it might not but the championship is also flush with cash so short of a career ending injury it is a very calculated punt.
