Hammers put January shutters up

West Ham will be keeping the squad together during January with no sales  foreseen by Manuel Pellegrini.

With results having picked up and performances improving massively the manager believes he now has a first team set up which can compete at the top half of the table.

And unless injuries intervene there is no plan to buy or sell in the winter market at which point hopefully Andy Carroll and Winston Reid will be ready and Manu Lanzini close to a return.

The manager has made it clear from Day One that he wants a squad rather than simply a strong first team and although there were possible doubts  about the form of such as Cresswell, Antonio, Snodgrass and Obiang, all are now seen as Hammers stayers.

Only, maybe Chicharito could become a possible departure but given  his £120k a week wages and the likelihood of the Hammers being able to get anything close to the £16 million back, that looks remote.

A source told us : “We are very happy with the squad and we can see no reason at this stage to make changes during the winter. “We have cover in a lot of positions now and are very happy with the way things are going.”

  1. Obiang has made such a difference to the team. I hope we can hold on to him in January.
