Hammers put proviso on Moyes

|

By Hughie Southon

West Ham’s board have made it clear that David Moyes will be given plenty of time to turn things around at the club bu have placed a proviso on the timetable.

They are reluctant to fire a man who has spent nearly £200 million in the summer transfer market and insist that he has to have time make his signings work.

Should that not happen then he – like all other managers – will come under pressure but that seems to be a way off at this time.

Given the summer spend it is unlikely. however. that the club will be able of reluctant to do anything other than bring in loan signings in January when there are contract issues to be sorted – notably over Ben Johnson.

A key Hammers source made the position clear on Moyes in giving him something more than a vote of confidence declaring: “He is 100 per cent safe at this time. He made these new signing and will be given the chance to make them work.”

    Hmm… going back 38 league games, Moyes’ record is P38 W14 D6 L18.
That is mid table form and basically we are not going anywhere! We definitely won’t be challenging for 6th or 7th place this season.
I usually say that once the players pass the whitewash it’s up to them to perform and get results. It’s not all down to the manager. But we’re simply not scoring enough goals.

Look what happened the last time Moyes had a dodgy spell, we had the disaster that was Pellegrini’s regime! 🙄

The Board gave in to fan pressure and it blew up in their faces – they need to support the Manager, improve the Squad and back him! 🤔

The board are like moyes out of touch . Been a complete disaster with moyes since last Dec. His clueless with the players and must go now before we can’t get in a top coach . Poch is available and others who play attractive football and this moron wouldn’t know how. His had his time and chances since Dec and shows his clueless. Benny taken off scamacca off starts with soucek and cresswell with flynn and Emerson on bench. Get him out my club before the fans start hating this idiot. Has no idea and unless the board want relegation then he must go right now. No more excuses.

So be it, the owners have the right after all it’s there money. It is clear to me he has to go, he has the players and he is not using them correctly. If he has not changed at this point he will not change. I have seen it with him before st other clubs, he is not going to change his principles. At the end of the day if the club are prepared to accept the risk to be playing championship football next year and their investment of 150m in the summer is reduced to 70m who am I to argue but it’s a huge mistake, all the indicators are there he has lost the confidence of players and fans already.

It’s been woeful for months, Europe has papered over the cracks. He is out of his depth, taken us as far as he can.His comments about Benrama, saying not sure if he contributed after scoring is laughable. He should know as he is the manager and surely was watching the game and took him off.Was it just a habit to sub him? Replace Scammacca with Antonio, this is all he does. Time to go, thanks for what you have done.

I think we will definitely finish top half and I believe we will win the Europa conference league to qualify for the Europa league next year. All providing the fans stay onboard and give Moyes the time to make things work after going through the big transition period were currently going through. I don’t believe the new players we’ve bought are worse than the ones they replaced but they need time to adjust to the premier league and they need confidence and they definitely don’t need fans on their backs.

I get swayed one way with the motion that all the new players needed to bed in and on the other hand I say to myself… Moyes is blinkered.. no strategy and uses his scapegoat Benrahma all the time. If he goes, I’ll probably say about time yet I secretly want him to succeed

I think most of us are saying the same sort of thing. Although Moyes did a great job in hauling the club up the table when he rejoined. Since last November, when other teams worked out how to counter his one tactic, things have been bad. Man management and tactics are not his strengths. His handling of many players has been appalling. Benrahma has been the best/worst example but there have been a number of others and I fear he is doing the same with Scamacca. So in many ways Moyes is too one dimensional – he is naïve tactically, a poor motivator and a bad man manager. If the board keep him on now it will be to thank him for past services rather than his likely future achievements, and this has to be wrong surely. The squad now is perhaps the strongest it has ever been and it deserves a top, tactically sophisticated and modern manager.
