Hammers ready for striker action

GrayWest Ham will continue to concentrate  on their major striker targets before making a £15 million move for Burnley’s Andre Gray.

The club has admitted the 26 year old is a target but believe they have more difficult negotiations on hand before offering Gray the terms he requires.

Olivier Giroud, Javier Hernandez, Kelechi Iheanacho and Michy Batshuayi remain at the top of their target list but Gray is a player they admire and would be ready to meet Burnley’s £15 million valuation.

However, with Alexandre Lacazette now firmly on his way to Arsenal with a medical scheduled for today, the Irons are waiting to make serious moves in Giroud’s direction.

Iheanacho is also still bang on top of he wanted list as Slaven Bilic pursues hopes of bringing in three top front men.

Gray reportedly wants around £70k a week after failing to agree terms with Burnley who have a top pay level of around £35k a week.

  1. Giroud-Everton make offer,West Ham haven’t.Jimenez-Everton make offer,West Ham haven’t.What is it with Everton that they want every player that West Ham want, but don’t move on.I’m afraid too that Andre Gray is not gonna get you into the top 6.He only scored 9 goals as a centre forward. The same as Antonio and he spent time at right back and in the treatment room.

    • How do you know that the club haven’t made any moves on these players? There has been no un/offical news from any one at the club. All that has been said is the players are targets & Everton haven’t yet signed these two.

  2. If we played Feghouli as a striker or Ayew they would score more goals than Gray who is at best Championship quality, if we were going to sign Gray which I doubt why wouldn’t we just try for Brit Assombalonga from Forest who will probably score at least as many goals and probably be a lot less work shy the same can be said for Chris Wood at Leeds at least you know he will graft.

  3. No. Simply dont agree with that approach. We are clearly struggling on the top targets and we need at the very minimum to get 1 in, even if he is backup later down the line. This is what happened last summer, we got tunnel vision and missed out because of it. Get Gray in nice and early to show we mean business. If the deal is more straight forward, why are we not getting him in now whilst we are kicking around waiting for other things to happen?

    • Gray just being an example…. Chris Wood wouldn’t be a bad shout for backup either. Just someone to ease the pressure a little is needed urgently.

      • True Keeno, the reality is it is still very early in the window, we will sign some players and probably none of which are being mentioned now but players who will become available as other teams higher up the food chain complete their business, for me Gray would be a panic buy he doesn’t appear to work hard when I have seen him play and he seems to work less hard when Burnley are under the cosh, I think character at a team like ours is all important because there will be times if not next season then in the future when we need to dig deep as happened last season, you need players with fight which is why I wouldn’t want to see Feghouli sold, he always gave 100% last season whatever some fans may have thought about him.

  4. Sorry to say but if gray and woods are what we hope to sign or do sign that shows to me we have the ambition of a mid to bottom table team. I know it’s hard to get players in as every one wants the same players. Would prefer Martinez&fletcher given a chance than waste more money

    • Same as that Flicker, I don’t rate Gray at all, Giroud, Wellbeck, Perez, Lllorente from Swansea even, Iheanacho would be good, I am sure there are any number of foreign signings we could make that would be an improvement on Gray who hasn’t exactly set the PL alight with his form. Our ambitions of last season seem a memory but things change fast in football we have a good 3 months or so up until Christmas and we will be a more attractive proposition 🙂

  5. Gray and Woods you have to love our marquee signings

  6. lacazette has signed so we should expect Giroud for a medical in the morning ?

  7. I would have woods over Gray he hasn’t been given a shot in premier with right service he is a scorer ans good with is feet for a big player.
But Gray is a big no him and Ayew are like foenlike players but Ayew is better so why waste money on a player we already have of that ilk.
And unfortunatelyxkub is trying to Well Feghouli for cheap at £4m he has the heart and attitude and wants to stay even Bilic said he was in his plans. Roma offer £10m in Janm we shouldn’t sell period with no back up options. Looking at Hamburg Muller for £9m and Feghouli is younger and better

  8. How do you know Roma offered 10 mill?

  9. I can’t understand why people keep talking about Feghouli – surely he was just as bad as the other recruits last year – probably had 1 good game.
4m, 10m, 15m doesn’t get you a good premiership player anymore, especially a good striker.
We will have to pay over the odds in the current market, the same as anyone else, or we will end up with the same s#*t as last year.
