West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Nigerian-born defender Jordan Torunarigha from Belgian club KAA Gent. However the Hammers will face stiff competition from Crystal Palace who are looking to beat Leeds to the players signature.
The Hammers are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements and have identified the 26-year-old as a potential target. Torunarigha has impressed in the Belgian Pro League, showcasing his physicality and ball-playing abilities.
With Gent open to selling the defender due to his contract expiring next year, West Ham could secure a cost-effective deal. However, they face competition from other clubs, including Serie A side Monza.
The potential sale of Nayef Aguerd could free up funds for West Ham to invest in a new defender, with Torunarigha emerging as a viable option. The Nigerian’s versatility and experience could make him a valuable addition to the squad.
Torunarigha is a more reliable and cost-effective option and he is left-footed and can play either as a back-up to Max Kilman or as a defensive partner, bolstering the defensive depth and reducing the Hammers’ reliance on an obviously limited Kurt Zouma.
As the transfer window ticks own to the last 30 days, West Ham will need to act swiftly to secure their defensive targets and bolster their squad for the upcoming Premier League season.
I don’t understand why we are so skint ? We can’t seem to buy anyone because we can’t agree on transfer fees with clubs involved? We haggle all the time and won’t pay the going rate!!!
It’s no different for most Teams. The grass always looks greener on the other side.
Circle the wagons, the cowboys are in town, our transfer policy is worse now, than it was under Moyes, going down, and get a proper manager
If he signs for West Ham it will be because palace chose not to sign him, which also means he is not good enough for the prem. have West Ham got dougie freedman’s car bugged?
If true and that is a big if then we should get this player signed if the only rivals are Palace and Leeds and Monza……After all Sullivans reason for moving was to compete with the best and those three most certainly are not that.
Palace will fancy their chances without doubt ahead of those three Clubs mentioned; & for West Ham, do you ever have any of your own targets, or merely shadow Palace’s?
We need Duran as centre forward he is mobile quick young and a great finisher. With wahi from lens on the wing and Summerville would be ideal as our playmaker
This guy could be an absolute bargain. Palace have identified some fantastic players paid low and sold high, this could be one of those pearl purchase situations.
Good luck to us on this deal, the Summerville and Yuri up front!
