Hammers ready to cut losses on right back

|

arbeWest Ham are close to terminating Álvaro Arbeloa’s one year contract by mutual consent after offering a compensation package for his remaining eight months of wages.

The 33 year former Real Madrid right back signed a one year deal with the Hammers on 1st September this year on wages believed to around £65,000 per week matching what he earned with the Spanish giants!

The player is due another £2m in wages over the next eight months but the Hammers are thought to have negotiated a deal worth a set percentage of his remaining wages to cut ties early. West Ham were hoping another club would come in for him but that possibility now looks extremely unlikely.

The move is set to release Arbeloa as a free agent to join another club of his choice when the January transfer window opens.

The right back made just four appearances in Hammers shirt with his three Premier League appearances ending in two losses and a draw while picking up three yellow cards. His only win and clean sheet came against EFL Cup opposition Accrington Stanley. He had a falling out with Slaven Bilic during a training match earlier this year.

Slav doesn’t seem to good at resolving issues other than with Sakho, of course we don’t know how bad they were but he made a giant rick in not resolving things with Song which along with atrocious refereeing probably caused us not to qualify for the league stages in Europe or maybe even the CL last season and has created a gaping hole in our midfield just in front of central defence no matter who we play ever since.

Difficult to argue with you….. Song could have been magnificent for us but we ended up with Noble !! sums it up really .

I agree completely . At least wait and see if we can find a right back cos the scandi and antonio are not the one .Why Evra ??????

If we still have to pay a big chunk of his wages I would keep him as a back up option.Surely Slav can resolve the falling out which seems to have occurred in September.
