Hammers ready to do a deal for defender

Reports that Nottingham Forest are “struggling” to do a deal with the Hammers for Sam Byram have emerged this morning.

But they don’t line up with information we are getting from inside the Hammers who are keen to get a deal done for the right back.

The defender comes out of contract this time next year and the Irons would be happy to get their money back plus a bit after signing him for £3.8 million from Leeds in 2016.

According to Nottingham live Forest are keen to sign the player but are struggling to get a deal done as the Irons are keen to hold onto the player.

That’s an odd one because with Zaba, Ryan Fredericks and Ben Johnson all in the frame for the role there is no future for Byram at the club.

And a top Hammers source confirmed to us this morning by text that they are ready to entertain bids for a player who has been hit by injury since he arrived at the club.

He said: “Sam is a player who is out of contract in a deal and one of those we would entertain bids for  and in whom Forest manager Martin O’Neill has publicly expressed an interest.”

  1. Don’t believe what the Nottingham Evening Post say. They are absolutely clueless. They follow other people’s stories. They think they are in the know but haven’t a clue. Paul Taylor biggest plank going and just blocks people who don’t agree with him.
