Reports linking West Ham with a move for Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck appear to be wide of the mark, despite growing speculation.
Yesterday, rumours surfaced suggesting the Hammers were among the frontrunners to sign the highly rated German centre-back, who is expected to be available this summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added fuel to the fire by suggesting several Premier League clubs monitoring the 24-year-old, who has impressed in Serie A this season. This was later picked up by TBR Football who claimed the Irons were among the chasing pack.
However, Claret & Hugh has since spoken to a top West Ham transfer source, who has poured cold water on the speculation. “West Ham don’t stand a chance of signing him. Bisseck is a €50m player who’ll go to a Champions League club,” the source confirmed.
So, while West Ham may be out of the running, Bisseck could still be lining up for one of the Irons’ recent opponents. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be serious contenders, along with Bundesliga sides and Chelsea, who are also monitoring the situation.
Presumably Bisseck will wait until after the Europa League final before making a decision on his next move.
The towering defender is considered one of Europe’s top emerging talents, and with elite clubs circling, West Ham will have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements. . . a task that has become a little harder following the news that Nayef Aguerd sees his football future away from East London.
