As West Ham fans, we’ve grown used to conceding late goals in sickening circumstances this season: The Hammers have lost an incredible fifteen points from winning positions in what would clearly has been responsible for the irons being mired in a relegation battle.

Chucking points away from late goal concessions becomes soul destroying to watch – as many Hammers fans have found.

And now the Hammers have managed to dish out a dose of that experience to their north London neighbours – just for a change the ‘sacked in the morning‘ chant wasn’t aimed at a Hammers’ boss.

So – when that marvellous fate was inflicted upon our north London rivals whom we kind of love to hate, there’s no finer feeling. It may not fix the whole season, there’s no denying serious problems remain – but just for a day or so, Hammers fans were smiling again.

And one of the architects of the derby victory has admitted that he’s only recently understood the significance of the game.

Crysencio Summerville, who put the Hammers ahead and had another sparkling game for the Irons, has revealed that this London rivalry is something very new for him to digest – but he’s loving it!

As relayed by the club web site, when confirming he’s now in ‘a really good space‘ the Dutch winger said:

“I didn’t really know about the rivalry when I signed, but the staff and everyone at the Club told me, and I took it under my skin. I’m a real Hammer now, so I’m happy we were able to get the three points.

Obviously it being a rivalry makes the win even sweeter”

The young forward has already shown a touching level of respect and affection for his under-pressure boss by running to embrace Nuno after putting the Hammers ahead. He certainly looks reborn in the last few weeks and is out to terrify defenders.

A ‘real Hammer’ indeed – now he can make himself a ‘real hero’ with another ten goals like that before May is out.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

It’s amazing how good an attacker can look when he has other attackers in the team to occupy other defenders attention.
When you have a front line of 4 with genuine attacking ability, rather than central midfielders playing as false 9’s or a winger playing in the centre, you’re always going to struggle to fully threaten the oppo defence. Somerville is a good winger, as is Bowen and to have Pablo and Tatty to play off is the main benefit.

Good to see Summerville finally making his mark but it’s been two good games he’s had. Let’s not get carried away until he’s doing it for a whole season.

Kudus who? We have Summerville (twice the player) and will only get better with time. He was amazing against the spuds and lifted the whole team (fans included). Some excitement/drive at last. He is definitely one of one of us, and we’re very lucky/proud. Yeah and like you say, if you could score another 10 goals that will be great also ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️

As a critic of Summerville’s lack of stability under pressure, it is great to see him finally standing his ground and using the assets he does have, speed and agility, to his advantage. When you are his size, you can’t slug it out with 6′ 3″ defenders, you have to run rings around them.

A bit of consistency and retaining that attitude and the sky is the limit for the lad. Loads of skill and incredible speed.
