Hammers receive Apple pay day

Mike Keegan writing for the Daily Mail has revealed Apple have paid West Ham £150,000 for the use of their ‘intellectual property’ in the hit show Ted Lasso shown on the Apple TV streaming platform.

Viewers of the show, which sees a folksy ex-American football coach run the fictitious AFC Richmond, can expect to see the Hammers feature heavily throughout the forthcoming third season — all the way to a thrilling, unlikely climax.

The season 2 finale showed former kit man Nate of fictional AFC Richmond becoming manager of West Ham after the Hammers were taken over by show baddy Rupert Mannion.

The London Stadium was featured at the end of season 2 during a West Ham training session with Nathan “Nate” Shelley overseeing it as West Ham’s new owner Rupert whispers in his ear.

The Hammers sponsor Betway were heavily featured in the segment-leading to speculation they had paid to be included in the show.
