Hammers recruitment man may face exit door

|

Rob Newman

Tim Steidten has deployed scouts all over Europe and the UK as part of his brief at technical director at the club.

It has become clear over the summer that David Sullivan the manager and Steidten are now the trio making major decisions on who the club should go for in the transfer windows.

And this has seen head of recruitment Rob Newman slip out of the picture and although he remains at the club his credibility as Head of Recruitment has dipped considerably.

With Steidten now so heavily involved – notably in Germany where he worked for Bayer Leverkusen – it may well be that an agreement will be drawn up between Newman and the board on possible departure compensation at the end of the season – although that remains very much to be seen.

Steidten’s powers of persuasion and his experience of players at various clubs is being seen as a hugely important in the club’s development now and in the future.

A major source told us: “He has done a terrific job so far in persuading players to join.”
