In a recent report, TuttoJuve stated that West Ham United are now prepared to step up their efforts for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. The Hammers have an agreement with Nice but the player himself has stated his preference to move to Serie A giants Juventus.
The French centre-back has impressed in Ligue 1 and is seen as a valuable addition to bolster West Ham’s defensive options. The Irons are keen to secure his signature and have initiated talks again in a bid to persuade the player to join.
Juve are lacking the necessary funds to conclude the deal which is turning the transfer into a saga. Understandably Nice are upset with the situation and are keen for the player to move to East London.
The French defensive ace gave a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch and did well to average 1.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 football. He has even been accurate when interchanging possession from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 90.1% in the top tier of French football.
At 24, Todibo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui’s needs in the long run.
But with conflicting reports flying around the various news outlets, I fear that this may be just “paper” talk
