Hammers Reid deal and buy-out issue

|

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997West Ham are keen to offer and agree a new deal with Winston Reid as his current contract contains a buy-out fee clause thought to be in the region of £15 million.

National press reports suggested that the arrival of Jose Fonte had precipitated the move as his wages eclipsed the long serving New Zealander but ClaretandHugh has understands that is not the case and that the club want Reid to agree a new deal which adds three years to his current contract.

And they could be ready to offer around another £500,000k a year in personal terms with the buy out figure considerably enhanced or scrapped altogether.

Reid completed his new agreement with the club in March 2015 which ties him to the club until June 2021 but the club feel that as probably their best player he needs a new deal which reflects his true value.

And in doing so they would agree a buy out figure which does the same!

Not bad on effort but distribution, positioning and injuries let him down. He came off with cramp against Chelsea – should never happen if fit enough. I hope he’s not just playing for the bigger contract then puts his feet up.

I think there’s a BIG issue with him as Fonte has come in at 33 years old and earning more than him..Hardly the brightest idea to one of our better players over the last few seasons…If he could pass he would be at a bigger club !! His displays recently suggest he is unhappy to me!
