Hammers rejected in bid for “next Bobby Moore”

West Ham have been snubbed in a cheapskate bid for Peterborough United’s brilliant young defender Ronnie Edwards who has been dubbed a player who could become the next Bobby Moore.

Ronnie Edwards dubbed “the next Bobby Moore”

The 20 year old has been an ever present in the Posh side for two and a bit years having made 89 appearances plus 19 for the England under 20s.

He is rated a top prospect by Barry Fry, the Posh director of football, who himself is a huge Hammers fan and offers all his better players to David Sullivan before offering them elsewhere.

And speaking exclusively to Claret and Hugh he was disappointed at the offer for a player he believes is currently worth £8 million explaining: “I was offered something by West Ham which was totally unacceptable and was later immediately offered £4 million now and £4 million by another Premier League club.

Edwards described as even able to become the next Bobby Moore

I had offered the Hammers Ivan Toney for £10 million and was turned down so he eventually went to Brentford and despite his current problems is a top player and very much in the England frame when available.”

He added: “We have had Mark Robson and several other Hammers people watch Ronnie over several months whim I am convinced will become a truly top player and could even become the next Bobby Moore. I  am not saying that simply to sell him because I will have no trouble doing that but I would love it to be to the Hammers because I have always been a supporter of the club.”

If this is all true then perhaps a little respect should be shown to Barry Fry at Peterborough United. He has the Hammers in his heart and recommends good players to our club. He is almost scouting for us. So to insult him with a lowball offer is just not good form. Do better, West Ham!

Just put in a clause that compensates Posh IF he gets to that level. This will mean that if he becomes England and West Ham captain by the age of 23 we can safely say “Yep he’s at Bobbys level “.
