West Ham have again made it clear that James Tomkins is going nowhere.
With the Hammers set to be very quiet in the January transfer window, keen speculation has started surrounding Irons players who may be on their way out.
ClaretandHugh reported a couple of days back that the Hammers have no intention of selling but such has been the speculation that a reliable club source has repeated their position.
And chief among them since a weekend report appeared in one of the Sunday papers is that Sam Allardyce wants Tomkins at around £10 million.
That has been rejected again with a source telling us this morning: “It’s nonsense. It won’t be happening. James is an important member of the squad and won’t be going anywhere.
“Let’s be honest even if we were ready to sell him – which most certainly are not – he’s an Essex boy and the last place I can imagine him going would be Sunderland.
“We understand that reporters have to get stories published but this one truly is a non starter. We would add that Sunderland have made absolutely no approaches either.”
BUT !!!!! I think you are talking out of it !!!!
The boy is a hammer and I compare him to Alvin martin !!!! Slagged off when young but became an icon !!!
The lad is getting better and better !!! He ain’t going nowhere !!!
Best RB we have at present !!! Fact !!!!
He could become our right back for the next 5 years, his defensive ability is not in doubt and he is great at corners and free kicks in an attacking role,
Let the wingers and midfield players go forward although I am sure he can learn that role as well,if we sell we need £15 million plus because that’s what a good right back ( not Jenkinson )
He would be a better bet as a long time club captain at right back
But what? I don’t believe we would snatch their hands off personally. If we don’t want to sell him and the player himself is looking forward to playing in the Olympic stadium for the club where he has been since he was a little kid and where he has just signed a new long term contract and doesn’t want to move his family up to some northern wilderness, then that’s it. End of story. Only reason Tomkins would consider leaving West Ham is if he felt he wasn’t wanted, was being forced out of the club by a manager who didn’t consider him part of their long term plans and I don’t think that’s the case here.
If that was only true – show us the money?
If the offers good enough we’ll snatch their hands off – personally I wouldn’t like to see Tomkins go but….
weve all heard several times that we have no money to bring in any players in January unless we sell first so it’s no surprise the speculation has started already. However we have no need to sell any of our best players or indeed any of our most promising youngsters.
