Hammers reveal Fabianski contract position

Lukasz Fabianski’s return from injury will take him close to the 18 month mark from the end of his contract.

Sidelined with a torn thigh muscle, the keeper is expected to be off for around three months during which time Roberto – and possibly No 3 David Martin – will be called into action.

Fabianski’s contract expires in the June of 2021 and although he will be 36 the club has inserted an option into his deal – believed to be one year – which could see him extend his stay at the London Stadium.

ClaretandHugh was told by a source this morning on e mail when we asked this morning that the option was in placeĀ  but that the injury concern was the immediate concern.

He said: “Yes there is an option in place for Lukasz and we will be looking at that nearer the time. Now is the time for him to recover from his injury.”

His age will not be an overly important issue, however, as keepers tend to go on longer than outfield players although it gives highly rated Irons youngster Nathan Trott the time to gain experience as the club ready him for the No 2 and hopefully the No 1 position.

  1. Age is less of a factor with keepers, Fab is probably playing the best football of his career, hopefully will recover well and we can take up the option COYI!!!
