Unsurprisingly West Ham fans would rather Arsenal win tonight over Chelsea.

Over 76% of Claret and Hugh readers say they want Arsenal to raise the Europa trophy in Baku tonight with just under 24% preferring  Chelsea to win.

In 1965, West Ham won the European Cup Winners Cup. They have also competed in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

After winning the previous season’s Cup Winners’ Cup West Ham began another campaign in the same competition in 1965-1966 losing in the semi-final to eventual winners, Borussia Dortmund.

Winners of the 1975 FA Cup, West Ham – now managed by John Lyall – again entered the Cup Winners’ Cup, eventually losing in the final to Anderlecht.

Winners of the 1980 FA Cup, West Ham a Second Division team, started another European campaign in the Cup Winners’ Cup. The Hammers lost in the quarter-finals to eventual winners Dynamo Tbilisi.

In more recent times the Hammers played in Europe by winning the Premier League Fair Play table for 2014–15, West Ham qualified for the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League entering at the first qualifying round. They were knocked out in the third qualifying round by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu.
