A senior West Ham insider has this morning completely rubbished a story marked Exclusive by Andy Dillion in the Sun newspaper which suggested that the Hammers were about to perform an incredible U-turn on Andy Carroll.
The Sun published a quote they claimed was from a club insider which said: “There’s an argument for it. Any deal would be structured completely differently to the current one. A minimal basic salary plus heavily incentivised payments in return for starts and goals and things like that. That would put the onus on him to be fit and ready.
“There is sympathy for the player. The club has grown tired of all the setbacks but if he can stay fit and it costs West Ham next to nothing, there’s not much to lose. There have been early discussions about it at the club. But if I were Andy or advising him, I’d probably be thinking it would be wise to stay at West Ham.”
However, our senior club source speaking exclusively to Claret and Hugh this morning by Email said “The story is untrue and is based on Zero facts”
Surely not, it would be madness to keep in under any deal, wish him well and say goodbye.
No way would I want Carroll to stay, the money wasted by Our Club since 2012 us a complete joke! and the number of goals he has scored, this season a few players were getting close to his record since he joined us! There is no way his injury record will ever improve, no longer a Premiership player, he has been a very lucky guy!
And yet, Andy Dillon and The Sun can continue to make money by filling a newspaper with lies, wasting everyone’s time, with absolutely no accountability for their actions.
For me this would make complete sense. We are going to have to pay 10/15mil to replace him, sooo why not use it this way round
Sign him on a pay as you play scheme OR a very low basic with appearance and goal bonuses.
We know when fit he is unbelievable, it would be a shame to see him move to another club and actually get a decent run in a team if he can get fit.
We saw him fit this season for one of the longest periods since he’s been at the club and he was unbelievable. Unbelievably crap.
He’s had one too many injuries and he’s lost the attributes that made him “unplayable on his day”
He was totally immobile and key for me is, he’d lost his jump. I genuinely can’t see him cutting it at any professional level any longer. I think he’d be better off retiring and finding another way to make money. He’ll have plenty of options I’m sure.
