Hammers scout starlet with 100m buyout clause

West Ham United are reportedly one of several clubs closely tracking Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra. While Guerra’s buyout clause is an eye-watering £100 million, there is belief that his signature could potentially be secured for half that amount.

Reading between the lines, this potential signing appears to be more in the purview of West Ham’s director of football, Tim Steidten, rather than manager David Moyes.

Hammers scout starlet Javi Guerra

The 20-year-old has stepped up his performance’s massively this season, contributing three goals and an assist in nine La Liga matches. In the opening game of this season, he scored a late winner against Sevilla, the Europa League winners. Furthermore, he notched a goal in the 3-0 victory against Atletico Madrid last month.

Guerra’s exceptional performances have attracted the attention of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, as well as ourselves. All four clubs were in attendance during Spain Under-21s’ 1-0 win against Scotland in Jaen in September, with Guerra playing for 45 minutes.

However, West Ham and the other clubs interested in Guerra are not alone in their pursuit. Manchester United has also been scouting him this year, and there is even talk of a substantial bid of around £44 million to sign Javi from Valencia. Whether West Ham would be willing to invest such a significant sum in a young player remains uncertain.
